Important Doesn’t Always Mean Priority

Psalm 90:12

Sometimes being responsible means choosing between two good things. There may be something you really want to do—something that’s good for you, something that’s part of your routine—and still have to say, “Not right now.”

Not because it doesn’t matter.

Not because you’re giving up on it.

But because something else requires your attention FIRST.

That’s maturity.

Everything important cannot be the priority at the same time. Sometimes, we have to look at what’s in front of us and decide what needs us most right now.

And here’s the part we have to remember: prioritizing one thing doesn’t mean abandoning another.

You can adjust the schedule.

You can come back to it.

You can make room for it later.

You can still get it done.

Sometimes discipline looks like sticking to the plan. And sometimes discipline looks like having enough wisdom, courage, and maturity to change the plan.

So make the adult decision. Handle what needs to be handled. And don’t carry unnecessary guilt because today’s priorities required an adjustment.

Psalm 90:12 - Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
